You may be more familiar with the sportscar version of the Le Mans 24 Hours, but the legendary race is just as thrilling when you half the number of wheels…
Don’t believe us? Take five this morning and climb aboard with Italian professional racer Niccolò Canepa as he flies around the Circuit Bugatti during this year’s edition of the furious race. During the event, which took place from the 13th-9th June, Canepa rode a Yamaha R1 for the official Yamaha 7YART team – a digression from his usual seat aboard an Energica in the MotoE series.
Nonetheless, the 33-year-old rider flew around the 4.185km circuit, reaching speeds approaching 170mph. Watch as he cuts the racing line through the dark, chasing tail lights and contributing towards his team’s overall victory in the race, along with team-mates Karel Hanika and Marvin Fritz.
