Arrivederci: Final Pagani Zonda to get Monterey debut
Uncovered as far back as February, the Pagani Zonda Arrivederci, the final new Zonda chassis ever to be made, has not yet been seen in public. This week it will make its debut at The Quail Motorsports Gathering during Monterey Car Week.
The car has been commissioned by US West Coast car collector Kris Singh, who describes it as “the single most special car of my lifetime”. Tall praise from someone with such an illustrious collection.
The car in question appears to be 760 Roadster-based, retaining the traditional Zonda F-based front lights, but adding a large splitter, double dive planes, extraction vents below the windscreen and the widened front track. At the rear, we see the protruding exhaust surround, as well as winglets above the lights. Technical specs should reflect the 760, with a 760PS version of the Mercedes-AMG 7.3-litre V12, a carbon-titanium chassis and carbon-ceramic brakes.
Visible upgrades from traditional 760 spec include a unique double-layer rear spoiler with bespoke end plates. Unique to this car and this car alone are the six-spoke wheels, inspired by the seven-spoke items seen on the Pagani Huayra BC. Appropriately, like the first Zondas, the last will also feature a manual gearbox, though that’s about all this shares in appearances with 1999’s original.
The colourway is a first for Pagani too. Argento carbon fibre is the main base, with dark blue and bi-colour striping of blue and red, almost aping the classic Martini Racing colours. The cabin is a distinctive bright red spec.
As the Zonda bloodline finally comes to a close with the Arrivederci, we have to ask. Which was your favourite over the years? We can’t help but wonder if these later Zondas left the elegance and artistry of the earlier cars behind with their ever-more extreme specs.
