The AMB 001 Pro has been unveiled by Aston Martin and Brough Superior in Milan at the legendary motorcycle show, EICMA.
The successor to the sold out AMB 001, the AMB 001 Pro is the latest design collaboration from the two iconic British brands and will only see 88 motorcycles produced. Inspired by the track-only Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro hypercar, the superbike – which is also solely for being put through its paces around a circuit – features a 997cc water-cooled V-twin four-stroke producing 225PS (165kW), a 25 per cent increase from the previous model.
Three years after the original model was also unveiled at EICMA, the AMB 001 Pro weighs only 175kg when dry, giving it Formula 1 style performance with a power-to-weight ratio of 1.28PS/kg. Alongside the increased power comes a step up in downforce performance thanks to the front cowl now fixed to the bodywork, managing downforce at the front end of the motorcycle.
As the bike moves along, the airflow is channelled through a large integrated intake on the front wing, which then passes through the new front cowl and is deflected through the dynamic windshield. Meanwhile, a rear fin with aero stabiliser design adds additional stability to the rear.
The joint effort between Aston Martin and Brough Superior, which will be hand built at the Brough Superior factory in Toulouse, also includes the ‘lacewing’ badge found on all Valkyrie models. At 99.4 per cent lighter than the traditional enamel badge, the lacewing badge is 30 per cent thinner than a human hair, and can be found on the nose cowl and tank.
There is only one specification available for the AMB 001 Pro, and comes in Aston Martin ‘Verdant Jade’ colours, accented by streaks of ‘Photon Lime’, as found on the AMR racing liveries around the world.
“There is no separation between the advanced materials, design and technical capabilities of the bike,” said Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer of Aston Martin, Marek Reichman. “We’ve achieved this fluidity again with Brough Superior for those who desire a track superbike like none other. The rider is part of this moving sculpture and will literally feel as though they are part of the track when laying atop the AMB 001 Pro.”
“We are excited to reveal the AMB 001 Pro at EICMA today,” added Chief Executive Officer of Brough Superior, Thierry Henriette. “The success of its predecessor, coupled with the incredible Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro, inspired us to get together again to create a new superbike; one that we know will excite our customers. We are particularly proud of the new engine type, with a crankcase fully machined from solid billet aluminium, which is a unique feature for a production motorcycle. With the marked increase in power this takes AMB 001 Pro into the hyperbike sector.”
Orders are open and have already started being taken for the strictly-limited AMB 001 Pro, and first deliveries are expected at the tail end of 2023.
