Aston Martin teases new V12 Vanquish

Details on the upcoming new car are limited for now, however Aston has confirmed this new twin-turbocharged V12 engine will deliver 835PS (614kW) and 1,000Nm (738lb ft) of torque, which makes it one of the most potent engines to ever come out of the Gaydon factory.

Extensive development has been at the heart of this project, with seemingly no stone unturned to extract every ounce of performance. The block has been strengthened, with new cylinder heads and reprofiled camshafts. Combustion is said to have been optimised with painstaking attention paid to the positioning of the spark plugs and the use of new fuel injectors to maximise flow rate, while the turbochargers have also been honed to improve throttle response.

The engine will be handbuilt in limited numbers, and is set to make its debut in a new flagship model, which has been heavily hinted to be an all-new Aston Martin Vanquish, scheduled for a full reveal later in 2024. It will then also feature among the brand's “most exclusive and limited” models.

The Vanquish name has been on the backburner since it was replaced for a second time by the DBS Superleggera in 2018. It was first introduced as the V12 Vanquish at the Geneva Motor Show in 2001, powered by a 5.9-litre, 466PS (343kW) V12 engine and acting as the flagship of the Aston Martin catalogue. It evolved into the Vanquish S in 2004 until its initial benching in 2007. 

It returned in 2012 for another six-year run with an improved version of that 5.9-litre block, this time producing in excess of 570PS (420kW) and being generally received as one of the greatest cars Aston Martin ever made. Should a new Vanquish appear in 2024 with this ever more potent V12, it'll no doubt raise the performance bar for Aston's premium GT car.
