Is the standard Audi RS3 not sporty enough for you? The new RS3 Performance Edition could be the car for you, with more power, some more hardcore parts and stickier tyres. The sad news? You can’t have one, because it’s not coming to the UK due to production constraints. Read, the standard car is so popular, it won’t be available by the time the current waiting list has been cleared.
Yes, Audi’s already potent hyper hatch is getting a bump in its credentials for the 300-example run of performance editions for the world and, truthfully, it sounds like a pretty serious bit of kit. The bump in power to 407PS (300kW) is just the start, with a noisier exhaust and raised 184mph top speed.
They also get the three-way adaptive dampers, carbon brakes, Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tyres and new 19-inch wheels. On the inside, there’s a delicious pair of carbon-backed bucket seats, as seen on the RS4 Competition, which are quilted in Lamborghini-style hexagons.
It won’t be cheap though. The RS3 Performance Edition will command the equivalent of an £11,000 premium over the European base RS3. The limited colour options include Nogaro Blue, which is reflected on the brake calipers and on the inside, with a wheel stripe and in the stitching. All in, it’s a very desirable, if expensive package. Here’s hoping for a proper RS3 Competition that we do get, with the RS4’s adjustable coilovers, before the current generation car is waved off.
