Bentley’s Continental GT – all-new model expected at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September – is not sailing off into the sunset just yet. First there is this, the Conti GT Convertible Galene Edition. If you like it you had better move quickly because there are just 30 of them. For the world.

The Mulliner-crafted bespoke edition is Galene by name – it means the Greek goddess of calm seas – and maritime by nature, Bentley saying luxury yachting provided the inspiration for the model.

Created in collaboration with Princess Yachts, the 500bhp twin turbo V8-powered car aims to evoke the feel of a superyacht in its colour and trim. With its glacier white body with blue brightwork Bentley says the car “captures the iridescent sparkle of crystal clear waters”.

The hood is blue, while inside special material finishes include a new Pinstripe Walnut open-pore wood that was created by Mulliner specially for the Galene. As well as the centre stack and console, the walnut is also used in the treadplates and lines the boot floor.

Other yacht influences include the option of a hand-painted illustration of a yacht on the facia panel.

“The interior pays homage to the classic opulence, finest hand-crafted materials and exquisite details that are championed both by yachts and Bentley cars,” says Bentley.

All aboard then. But with the edition limited to just 30 cars Bentley-loving yacht types will have to make waves to get hold of one…
