Bentley reveals the most potent Mulliner models yet across GT, GTC and Flying Spur lineups

Bentley has expanded its “daily supercars” range by announcing the Mulliner version of the fourth-generation Continental GT, GTC and Flying Spur, featuring the same Ultra Performance Hybrid powertrain fitted to the company’s Speed models.

It combines a 600PS (441kW) 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine with a 190PS (140kW) electric motor to produce a peak system output of 782PS (575kW) and 1,000Nm (738lb ft). However, it can travel up to 50 miles at up to 87mph on electric power alone if you apply no more than 75 per cent of the throttle pedal in EV mode. Charging the car’s 25.9kWh battery takes less than three hours using a wall-mounted home charger.

A harder press on the throttle sparks the V8 into life, offering 0-62mph in around 3 seconds and a top speed of more than 205mph, while new dual-vale dampers and air springs are said to marry a magic-carpet ride with impressive handling.

When it comes to Mulliner, Bentley’s most luxurious name tag, performance is only half the story. Using Speed specification as a base, Mulliner models are available in one of a choice of 101 paint finishes or, at extra cost, you can mix a bespoke shade.

Mulliners get Bentley’s ‘floating diamond’ grille with a chrome surround, chrome lower grilles and chrome-dunked tailpipes, complemented by wing mirrors finished in Satin Silver. Or, you can forget about chrome and have all the components above finished in the gloss black of the Mulliner Blackline pack.

Mulliner models also get unique 22-inch wheels finished in either Tungsten Grey or gloss black, with polished accents and self-levelling wheel badges.

Continental GT Mulliner and GTC Mulliners feature twin single headlamps with ‘cut crystal’ reflectors and a Mulliner badge on the front wings. Flying Spur Mulliner, the Flying B radiator mascot, comes as standard along with the Mulliner wing vent with double-diamond detailing. They are easily spotted at night thanks to their ‘Bentley wings’ lighting animations and red-tinted tail lights replacing the grey tint of Speed models.

Open the door of your Mulliner Bentley, and you’ll spot ‘Mulliner’ illuminated scuff plates, customary deep-pile matts and a tri-colour interior, with accent piping and diamond-perforated seats with ‘Mulliner’ embroidered into their faces. Convertible GTC versions add a diamond-stitched tonneau cover.

Bentley’s Colour Specification is another standard feature allowing you to choose from the company’s vast range of hide and stitching colours.  Even the leather-bound keys get some Mulliner magic; they’re delivered in a presentation box matching your car’s three-colour cabin configuration.

Extra standard features add to the luxury. Mulliner models get Wellness Seating up front, with Postural Adjust and Auto Climate, which extends to the back seat in the Flying Spur saloon. To that, you can add a unique driver’s display, Bentley’s trademark three-sided revolving infotainment screen (now hooked up to the My Bentley App Studio), a heated steering wheel and a panoramic sunroof on the Continental GT and Flying Spur.

To that lot, you can add Touring Specification (Bentley’s suite of autonomous driving aids), interior mood lighting, Grand Black veneer trims with Mulliner overlay, and a ventilation system that measures air quality and can switch to air recirculation based on your location – in a tunnel, say.

Bentley has yet to reveal prices for the new Mulliner models, but, as the saying goes, if you have to ask, they’re probably too expensive – expect them to retail at well north of £250,000.
