Dodge Challenger Black Ghost joins ‘Last Call’ roster

28th September 2022

For those of us lamenting the imminent arrival of all-electric muscle cars, Dodge is giving us one last chance to dance. The literal ‘Last Call’ series of Challengers is comprised of seven special editions, of which this is the sixth. Meet the 2023 Dodge Challenger Black Ghost.

Using a Hellcat Widebody as the base, the Black Ghost is a callback to a famous 1970 Dodge Challenger RT SE that owner Godfrey Qualls used to frequent Woodward Avenue in. That might not mean much to international enthusiasts but old-school dyed-in-the-wool Hemi heads will recognise the name.

Visual touches calling back to the original include a ‘gator skin’ roof livery, bespoke badging, satin 20-inch wheels, Black Ghost badging inside and more. It’s also one of the most powerful challengers you can get, with the 300 examples all receiving the monster 807PS (594kW) version of the supercharged 6.4-litre Hemi V8 engine.

The Black Ghost joins the Shakedown, the Charger Super Bee, the Swinger, and the Charger King Daytona in the Last Call run of cars so far, which will all deliver from Spring next year. The seventh and final Last Call model will be revealed at Sema and, needless to say, these cars are about as ‘last of their kind’ as it’s possible to be.
