Ferrari re-starting car production from April 14th

It’s a big move – Ferrari is the first European manufacturer to announce a production restart – but one Ferrari is confident can be done safely, having shut its factories down on March 15^th. A statement from Ferrari reads: “Given the huge uncertainty and lack of predictability that the Covid-19 has created, the Company is taking all appropriate actions to assure the wellbeing and welfare of its employees and that are deemed to be in the best interest of all stakeholders.

“All activities that can be conducted in smart working will continue to be performed as has been the case in recent weeks. The Company will continue to cover all days of absence to those unable to take advantage of this solution.”

At the time of writing there have 80,589 confirmed coronavirus cases in Italy and 8,215 deaths, but the number of new daily reported cases and the number of daily deaths has started to decline.

Italy is still in lockdown, and just under 110,000 people have been charged for breaking the rules. Originally fines could reach a maximum of €206 (£187), but the limit has now been raised to between €400 (£360) and €3,000 (£2,700).
