Fisker Ronin is a 1,000PS four-door convertible super GT

The Fisker Karma super saloon is set to get a successor of sorts in a convertible four-door GT packing 1,000PS that’s good for 600 miles of all-electric range. Most importantly, though, it’s got that inimitable ‘Fisker’ look, that could only come from the man behind the Aston Martin Vantage and BMW Z8. This is the Fisker Ronin.

Everything that made the Karma so memorable returns for the Ronin – those bulbous haunches, the central ‘cockpit’ cabin, the sloping snout. It’s Aston Martin meets Cyberpunk in the best way.

A convertible hardtop, though? A strange throwback to the mid-2000s indeed and while that rear part of the carbon fibre cabin section is quite truncated, it’s sort of stylish in an almost Viper-esque way. Strange too that it’s a four-door, without any B-pillar, which Fisker admits presents challenges in terms of getting it to be rigid and up to crash testing. Engineering work is ongoing at the marque’s new Magic Works facility in the UK.

This is every bit the halo car flagship for Fisker, with boss Henrik Fisher saying “it’s in a category of one” at its reveal during the Fisker Product Vision event in California. "We wanted the ultimate driving experience and a new type of luxury. We believe in creating something completely different.”

So where’s all that power coming from? It’s been confirmed the Ronin will pack a triple-motor powertrain delivering all-wheel-drive, with performance numbers to trouble Rimac. The Ronin is targeted to crack 60mph in two seconds dead. The 600-mile range was decided upon as a target, given that Fisker intends the Ronin to be “a car you just want to drive” without worrying about range. The size of the battery pack feeding this range hasn’t yet been disclosed, though Fisker does intend to integrate it into the car’s chassis.

So is this a pie-in-the-sky concept, Fisker’s Tesla Roadster? Hopefully not, given it’s set to enter production this time next year, with deliveries beginning in 2025. As for price? The Fisker Ronin will cost no less than £300,000.

Of course, the Ronin is only the head of the spear for Fisker, with the marque planning a massive production expansion up to 2026. This will in addition to the Ronin include the PEAR, Alaska pickup and of course, the Ocean and its derivatives.
