Ford announces ‘60s inspired Bronco Heritage Edition
Ford is paying tribute to the original classic Bronco, with Heritage variants of the latest car that borrow styling elements from the 1960s icon. Touches include new colour combinations for the nose, roof, wheels and livery on all Broncos, from the ‘full-size’ car, to the family-friendly Bronco Sport. The big cars also get squared arch trims as a callback to the originals.
The bigger versions in both two- and four-door varieties will get two-tone paint jobs that mix Oxford White accents – hard top and grille piece – with gloss Race Red paint. That grille will be contrasted with Race Red ‘FORD’ lettering across it. White wheels and white pinstriping complete the classic look.
The contrasting colours continue on the inside, with stitching and trim pieces completing the look. In addition to Race Red, colour options inspired by original Bronco hues include Peak Blue, Yellowstone Metallic and Robin’s Egg Blue
Overall it smacks of one of those concepts that appears just before the production version, that the manufacturer insists isn’t in production but very nearly is, save for the quirky retro touches. Accept it isn’t. You can actually buy these. Well, if you’re in America. For us Brits, we’re going to have to want it enough to pay hefty associated import costs.
“Bronco captivated America in the mid-’60s with its rugged style and uncompromising off-road agility, a legacy that is still prevalent today,” said Mark Grueber, Bronco marketing manager.
“With these new Heritage and Heritage Limited editions, we’re paying respect to Bronco’s roots with nods to some of the signature design cues from the first-generation vehicle, while continuing to build the Bronco Brand with more special editions that our customers want.”
Bronco Sport Heritage Editions will start from $34,245, with prices going all the way up to $66,895 for the Heritage Limited full-size Bronco.
