Artcurial's Retromobile auction is one of the highlights on every classic car fan's calendar. Some of the cars sold at this august auction have broken world records and even the lesser-known metal is still verging on too cool.
This year is no exception, with over 150 cars set to cross the block on Friday and Saturday. The stars of the show are a pair of gleaming red Ferraris. The stunning Dino prototype we introduced to you last week, and across from it A 1948 166 Spyder Corsa Par Scaglietti. Between them, they could fetch ever €10,000,000, but they form part of what is a broad, but brilliant collection.
As we walked the section located in the second hall of the giant Expo centre in Paris that holds the sprawling Retromobile show our eyes were caught by the astonishing variety on show. From that pair of Ferraris, sat on plinths in the centre, past a sea of Porsche 911s we found a brilliant Citroën BX 4TC, sat behind a De Tomaso GT5 of all things.
Of particular note is a pair of Lola T70s in the same paint scheme, showing the car's lineage from T70 spider to the later MkIIIB. If you're at Retromobile and can find access to the sale it's well worth your time, but if you can't then hopefully the gallery above will give you a good taste of what is to be found.
