Gallery: Porsche heaven with FlatSix at Goodwood

Goodwood recently played host to a new event at the Motor Circuit, FlatSix, a celebration of all things Porsche flat-six, as you might have guessed. We headed down to the event for a poke around and suffice to say some of the cars on show were stunning.

Think of a flat-six Porsche, it was there. There were Boxsters, Caymans, 914/6s, 959s, and of course 911s, within which there were so many variations and models, from Targa to Turbo, 911 S to GT2 RS, it would be impossible to list them all. One or two Porsches without flat-six engines did sneak in, too, like a 924 Turbo and a 912, but that was OK.

What caught our eye? I mean, where do we start? To see a 959 in the metal is always special, considering just what a special car it is to Porsche and that only 292 were ever made. There was a 997 Sport Classic, too, which we went weak at the knees for, and I don’t care what you say, an original 986 Boxster in silver with a red interior and gold wheels is just cool. To see a large number of very early 911s was a real joy as well, and it makes you realise just how small and simple 911s use to be.

On the GT Porsche front there was, well, everything, including a 997 GT3 RS 4.0, a 996 GT3 RS with blue stickers and wheels, and a 997 GT3 RS finished in that most perfect Kermit Green, or ‘Viper Green’ to give it its proper name.

While on the subject of colour, two cars meant we had to have a lie down. Firstly, there was a 911 GT2 RS MR finished in Neptune Blue – the word stunning doesn’t do it justice. Secondly, there was a 991.1 GT3 RS in what looks like Aston Martin Almond Green or Porsche Racing Green Metallic. We’re annoyed we can’t figure out exactly what paint it is, but our brain is a little foggy from short-circuiting looking at the pictures.

All in all there were some cracking cars, so enjoy a look through our gallery and consider this: money no object, which one of these Porsches would you go for?
