Gallery: Rare Bugatti Type 57C Atalante wows at Bonhams

At Goodwood we’re graced by the presence of Bugattis on a semi-regular basis. Even so, when you walk into a room and see a Type 57C Atalante it’s difficult not to faint.

One of the many cars looking for a new home at the Bonhams Quail auction, this Type 57C Atalante was built in 1938 and is one of only three supercharged Atlante models built with aluminium bodywork. Its 3.3-litre straight-eight engine produces only 160PS (118kW), but who cares? Aside from being rare, this car was on show at the 1948 Paris motor show, and it was owned by the same person from 1954 to 2014. It is, in a word, tremendous.
