Gallery: Retromobile 2018 – a feast of automotive icons

08th February 2018
Ben Miles

Welcome to Paris! It's that time of year when Christmas seems to have come around once again for every lover of classic cars, as the automotive world descends on the Salon Retromobile, a veritable feast of everything from the beautiful to the weird and wonderful.

In these three hallowed halls, you will come across almost everything you could possibly imagine in the automotive world. At one side you will find an incredible stand of McLaren monsters (including the 1995 Le Mans-winning F1) while on the other you will see a series of classic available for under €25,000.

Particular favourites so far include a Lamborghini Countach that is mid-way through a complete restoration, Jaguar's stunning 'brand new' D-type, which we wrote about yesterday and at least four Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwings. It's enough to boggle the mind and you've barely made it out of hall one!

The oddities are here in force, of course, Artcurial are selling the bones of a 1947 Dolo Type JB 10 (which you can read about here), while Retromobile are celebrating the eclectic works of Jean-Pierre Wimille (which we will bring you more of later).

And the beauty doesn't end in the halls of the Paris Expo, over the other side of the river Seine our friends at Bonhams are holding their incredible Grand Palais sale as well as unveiling a very special car for their FOS sale.
