You know the giant Pick ‘n' Mix stalls at cinemas? Well imagine one of those, but rather than a cinema you’re at Goodwood Motor Circuit and rather than sweets you’ve got all the latest and greatest supercars… And now imagine you can pick any one of those cars and drive it on the road or the track. Sounds amazing, doesn’t it?
The Goodwood Media Drive Day, launched in 2018, is an opportunity for some of the motoring media to get behind the wheels of some recent cars they might have missed, or, in some cases, just driving something again for fun because, well, there’s a fast track to be enjoyed…
What cars were left with the keys in the ignition? Well, Lamborghini brought the new Aventador SVJ, Porsche the 992 911, McLaren the 600LT and 720S Spider, and Aston Martin the new DBS Superleggera, Vantage and DB11 AMR. A Ferrari Portoifino and 812 Superfast, Ford GT, Rolls Royce Phantom (with a gold Spirit of Ecstasy), Bentley Bentayga Mulliner, Maserati GranTurismo and Mercedes G63 AMG were in attendance, too. That list is far from exhaustive.
A surprise came from Honda, as not only did it bring an NSX but also an Integra Type R, FN2 Civic Type R Mugen, FK8 Civic Type R, CR-Z Mugen and a 1999 Insight.
What a mad, surreal day.
