Welcome to the home of the classic car world. The Retromobile salon in the heart of Paris is a true Mecca for everyone who is involved in the historic automotive world, and a place that we at GRR just cannot keep away from.
There’s a chance that, from our early exploration of the sprawling Paris Expo centre in Porte de Versailles, that this year’s show may be the best one we’ve had the pleasure of attending.
Alongside stands from Citroën, Renault, Porsche, Aston Martin and more, some of the stands representing the crème de la crème of the automotive retail world have really pulled out the stops for the new decade.
Starting with Richard Mille’s always McLaren-heavy stand, which this year hosts the brand new Senna GTR alongside some of its inspirations – in the shape of four McLaren F1s, the ’95 Le Mans winner, Gulf-liveried longtail, GTR and road car, and its grandfather, McLaren M6GT. We then move on to an incredible selection of modern classic supercars (there’s two Ferrari Enzos within 10 metres of each other) and an Alfa Romeo collection from Lukas Huni that could shame the official museum in Turin.
Slightly further afield the variety that Retromobile really celebrates is showcased with a display of tractors, both big, small and oddly aerodynamic, while the selection of automotive books for sale is as mind-boggling and tempting as ever.
We’ll be bringing you lots more highlights (we haven’t even mentioned the auction giants prepping for sales) over the coming days, and trying to give you just a taste of what has to be the greatest automotive show on the planet.
