The latest Vision Gran Turismo concept is here and it comes from Genesis. Meet the achingly beautiful Genesis X Gran Berlinetta Vision Gran Turismo.

Though that name is quite the mouthful, it’ll take us a while to have our fill of drinking in the looks of this thing. What a stunning, modern-looking and innovative take on the classic cab-rearward long-bonnet super tourer.

There’s real synergy with Genesis design cues too, with the crest grille reinterpreted as almost entirely open, funnelling air through the nose and turning the top of it almost into its own wing. Likewise, the double light signature runs both above and below that and streaks along the side behind the front wheel, to reveal a sprawling exit vent ahead of the front doors.

Towards the rear behind the rear wheels the double lights are reintroduced in red, leading through a vent into the rear end. There’s a sort of BMW i8-esque look of the car giving birth to its own rear end, with the bulk of it emerging from a width-spanning oval that sprouts into a glorious curved wing. The overall result is a 0.34 drag coefficient. It’s all set off beautifully by the distinctive Genesis Magma paint. All in, as above, A++ work.

“Our goal was to create a timeless design rooted in the essence of motorsport,” says John Krsteski, Genesis Senior Chief Designer.

“We have an incredibly diverse global design team that are car and racing enthusiasts. The designers relished the opportunity to create a race car that featured Genesis design elements as well as technical performance attributes. It has become a catalyst of inspiration for our other programs.”

On the inside the classic GT vibe is augmented with some serious modern touches, including a yoke steering wheel (complete with its own little display). The cabin is mostly carbon-trimmed, with soft-touch points wherever the driver is expected to touch. The seats are quilted and padded for both comfort and aesthetics.

So what powers it? Surely it’s all-electric? Nope. There’s a V6 engine good for 10,000rpm working in tandem with an e-motor with a system output of 1,079PS (794kW) and 1,337Nm (986lb ft) of torque.

Players will be able to get the Genesis X Gran Berlinetta Vision GT Concept in January’s Gran Turismo 7 update.
