Quite unlike Porsche, which choses to forgo a crazy wing for its hardcore soft-top, Hennessey has gone all out for its Venom F5 Revolution Roadster, with a full aero kit. It is… *does some quick maths* … over three times as powerful as the 500PS Boxster Spyder RS, however. How does 1,842PS (1,354kW) sound?
Four-figure power numbers and nomenclature borrowed from hurricane rating systems is standard fare at Hennessey of course. The Revolution of course is track-focused, with less of an emphasis on outright top speed. The splitter, wing and dive plains increase downforce, while the retuned suspension affords better lateral control. This example is the first of five ‘Bare Carbon’ models, showcasing for the first time Hennessey’s ability to meticulously choreograph the weave of the lightweight material.
As above, the 6.6-litre twin-turbo ‘Fury’ V8 is unchanged across the four-car F5 family, with the Revolution Roadster featuring a tempered glass rear window through which to view it. Just 12 of the Revolution Roadster are set to be made with each already sold.
Many of those to-be owners could be seeing the car in person as it debuts at The Quail during Monterey Car Week. Each of those twelve buyers are parting with a sturdy $3million for the pleasure and many are likely already owners of other F5 variants.
"The new Venom F5 Revolution Roadster combines our track-focused hypercar with an open-top for an unmatched visceral driving experience,” said John Hennessey, founder and CEO.
“This first example, a bespoke build for a special client, debuts our bare carbon finish with its meticulous handcrafted exposed carbon-fiber weave. Our hypercar is a timeless work of art that is as visually inspiring as it is physically engaging, thanks to its 1,817-hp combustion-only twin-turbocharged V8."
