Hennessey-tuned machines have always felt like forbidden fruit to us Brits. Yes, they do various supercars, they do Mustangs and so on. But somehow their latest creation feels like the most accessible thing yet to those of us on the east side of the Atlantic. It’s the VelociRaptor 500, it packs (you guessed it) more than 500PS and it’s based on the humble Ford Ranger. Well, the Ranger Raptor.
The Ranger Raptor is a relatively popular car here. It’s probably fair to describe it as a Blue Collar G63. Well now, you can take it to the next level. Upgraded parts include an ECU tune, a high-flow air induction system and a larger front-mounted intercooler system. In short, much is shared with the Velociraptor 500 Bronco.
Obviously the VelociRaptor also retains its special 2.5-inch Fox ‘Live Valve’ internal bypass shocks, G.O.A.T driving modes (including Baja, Sand, Mud/Ruts and Rock Crawl) and the ten-speed automatic transmission.
There are also serious visual enhancements so no one confuses it for a standard Raptor, including big 18-inch wheels, special VelociRaptor front and rear bumpers and interior embroidery.
Now then, the ultimate question. How do you get it in the UK? Well, it’s claimed that international shipping begins in the final quarter of this year. Pricing in pounds (before import costs) is £20,131, without the base car. As for installation? There’s the unknown. You might need to be super friendly with your Ford dealer or specialist…
