Of all the cars you don’t expect to see towing, the Honda NSX might be at the top of that list. Dodge Viper? Lots of low down torque, could sort of make sense. But an NSX? Well, a good excuse to tow in an NSX, is if the trailer you want to tow resembles half an NSX.
Has the maniac with the keys to this project just mutilated a perfectly good NSX to make a trailer? Well, no. Perfectly good wouldn’t just be generous, it’d be downright inaccurate. The donor car had been written off twice, which in America means it doesn’t get another chance at roadworthiness. A track-only build was a possibility but the second crash was so devastating, the requisite repairs would have been more expensive than another roadworthy NSX. So, this gentleman has effectively saved an NSX from the scrap heap.
The trailer is now used to pitch a custom tent system when camping, which he used to do on the top of his functioning NSX. That car now has an extra storage box on the top. On the inside of the trailer is stored a Honda Motocompo folding scooter that’s now a collector’s item, originally designed to fit in the original Honda City hatch.
The owner, Cut, is very serious about using this big rig-come-sports car on a cross country trip, visiting everywhere from campsites to big cities. So everything will see use, yes, including the Motocompo. While appearing extremely low, the NSX(s) have adjustable suspension, so you needn’t worry about his ground clearance when it comes to getting into campsites.
You’re still tempted to cry blasphemy, aren’t you? We sort of are but really, it’s just a pretty epic project, isn’t it? A different but worthy final lease of life for the fallen NSX.
