Limited edition Morgan Plus Six and 3-Wheeler unveiled
Morgan is going Dutch with its latest bespoke models for its dealer in the Netherlands, which has been selling Morgans continuously for 60 years. The five celebration left-hookers might be heading across the Channel but the Malvern firm says they showcase the personalisation options available to everyone.
And don’t they look smart, with cool body colours, striking yellow accents and details across the range that include a painted “6” behind the grille and yellow band over the bonnet to evoke a traditional Morgan’s leather bonnet strap.
Four of the special LE60 cars for Morgan’s Dutch retailer Louwman Exclusive are the latest Plus Six – two in Ice Blue and two in Scintilla Silver – and the fifth car is a 3-Wheeler, finished in Almond Green. All have been conceived by Morgan’s design team and hand-assembled at the company’s factory in Malvern.
Morgan says the designs demonstrate the company’s bespoking skills. The tailored options include 19-inch alloy wheels designed to evoke wire wheels, colour-keyed brake calipers and spotlight casings, and special seat stitching, textured leather, matte wood dashboard and headrest embroidery. The 3-Wheeler gets a leather dash with laser engraving, while all the cars get special LE60 motifs in recognition of the 60th Dutch anniversary.
“We are delighted to recognise this landmark anniversary with our Dutch dealership,” Morgan sales chief Marcus Blakes tells us. “When Louwman contacted us with their plans to celebrate 60 years as a Morgan dealer, we wanted to make sure they did so in style.”
The specials come as Morgan’s latest model, the well-received Plus Six, chalks up its first full year on sale. Based on only the fourth all-new platform in the company’s 110 year history, the Plus Six is powered by a 335bhp BMW turbocharged inline-six offering 0-62mph in 4.2 seconds. When we tested it we found it highly assured, great fun at the wheel, and terrific to look at. Quite clearly the Dutch agree!
