Following the reveal of the aggressive-looking new BMW X7, Alpina’s specially fettled version has broken cover. Meet the XB7, a 621PS (457kW) ultra-exclusive super SUV.
Yes, you read that right. The XB7 is powered by a 4.4-litre mild-hybrid V8 engine producing over 600PS, and to boot, 800Nm (590lb ft) of torque from just 2,000rpm. All that adds up to a scarcely believable 0-62mph time of 4.2 seconds and a 180mph top speed. That extra oomf comes courtesy of BMW’s cross-bank exhaust manifolds, which Alpina has incorporated into the XB7.
Of course, an Alpina isn’t an Alpina without some carefully considered style tweaks. Revised splitter and diffuser elements in body colour give the impression the XB7 is lower and more aggressive. Signature Alpina dynamic 21-inch wheels complete the look, with 23-inchers optional.
On the inside, the new large curved display gets some distinctive Alpina green and blue accenting in its user interface. The bits you can touch on the interior are nicer too, with a range of Lavalina leather interior options offered.
Deliveries of the XB7 in the UK aren’t expected until next year, while prices are expected to be north of £140,000.
