Peugeot announces electric e-308

Peugeot is giving its 308 the big e. E for electric of course. Not just electrified, as plug-in hybrid versions of the 308 already are, but fully battery-powered. The e-308 arrives around next summer as both hatch and SW, the station wagon version among the first estates to go electric in Europe, claims Peugeot.

The e-308 gets a new power set-up: a 156PS (115kW) motor with a 54kWh battery providing a range of up to 248 miles (on the WLTP cycle). Standard will be a three-phase 11kW charger which can  power the battery from 20-80 per cent in less than 25 minutes using a 100kW rapid charger (if you can find one…)

The cars gets a new “Brake” mode which offers a more one-pedal driving experience with fiercer deceleration – but greater energy recuperation – when you lift off. There’s also a Sport drive mode and GT trim level. The e-308 gets a new supposedly more aerodynamic 18-inch alloy wheel, otherwise is as any 308, with its distinctive LED lighting signature of “fangs” up front and “claws” at the back.
