Peugeot previews Inception-influenced future lineup

26th January 2023

On the reveal of the Inception Concept, Peugeot was insistent about how important it was as a preview of its models to come. Not in that it was a big leggy saloon, being what Peugeot wanted to build, but in terms of its styling and, particularly, its 9X8-inspired schnoz. Well, a teaser image included in Peugeot’s ‘E-Lion’ strategy update, revealed today, shows a lineup of future cars, each wearing a version the Inception’s distinctive glass-clad claw-lit face, complete with light-up Peugeot badge. This will indeed be the new corporate face of Peugeot and is coming to the whole range.

Speaking of the whole range, the headline plan is as follows: every Peugeot electrified by 2023, every Peugeot with an all-electric version by 2025 and an electric-only range by 2030. Five EVs will be released over the next two years – the E-308, E-308 SW, E-408, E-3008 and E-5008. The former two are getting a new 160PS (115kW) electric motor and give up to 248 miles of all-electric range.

The big ones however will be the E-3008 and E-5008, with the former being the first to launch on the new Stellantis STLA Medium platform, as an all-new C-segment SUV. Talk is of single- and dual-motor versions, up to 435 miles of range. Its reveal is scheduled for the second half of 2023, with the E-5008 to follow shortly afterwards.

The Inception’s face isn’t all the new range will get. Future Peugeots will follow its ethos of BEV-by-design. The marque claims this will result in the significant evolution of its models with new proportions and improvements in practicality. There’s less talk of traditional segments and more of these models defining new ones – bold stuff.

Indeed, visible in the teaser image are seven models, with traditional hatchbacks and crossovers plain to see, but some that are a little more mysterious, looking not as close in relation to existing models and seem to blur segment lines. The big SUV on the far right has piqued our interest, as has the large saloon on the left. Are you excited to see how Peugeot’s range evolves over the coming decade?
