The Radford Lotus Type 62-2 has completed its final track test at the Hethel Lotus test track, with Jenson Button at the wheel. With the completion of testing, comes confirmation of exactly how fast the top-spec JPS-liveried cars will be.
Based on the Lotus Exige, the full-spec JPS Type 62-2 will pack over 600PS (441kW) from its 3.5-litre supercharged V6 engine. Weighing under 1,000kg (dry), that means the JPS will get to 62mph in 2.9 seconds, 124mph in 8.4 seconds, on the way to a limited 186mph top speed.
“To finally drive the type 62-2 for the first time was obviously a very special moment, the cockpit already feels like home,” Button said.
“The car felt great, well balanced in high and low-speed corners and ran faultlessly all day which is the perfect base for the months of setup tweaking that will follow for me. We want to ensure that this car is a pure driver’s car that pays both due respects to the DNA of Lotus but also delivers the luxury of a Radford.”
Type 62-2 deliveries are scheduled to begin in the second quarter of next year. All buyers will get an invite to a day of on-track tutelage with Jenson Button, to help them get the most out of their car.
