Sketches of the new Skoda Superb have been released ahead of the car’s official reveal next month. It gets striking new looks that will set the tone for the rest of the Skoda range, with more tech and more interior space.
If these official drawings are anything to go by, you can expect the new Skoda Superb to be significantly more striking than the current model, not that you’d ever accuse it of being a bad-looking car.
More aerodynamic than the current Superb, the new model gets a bolder grille flanked by intricate matrix LEDs, giving the car a fresh look while also providing smart illumination that won’t blind other road users. Around the sides, rear-wheel haunches mean the new Superb should be more distinctive than the old model, and jewel-like LEDs complete the look at the back.
The pictures also confirm the Skoda will be offered as an estate and a saloon, reassuring for wagon lovers worried by Volvo’s decision to pull its estates from UK sale.
The competition should be even more worried by the words “headroom and luggage compartment have grown considerably”, quite a claim given that the current Superb can eat everything bar a Mercedes E-Class estate for breakfast when it comes to luggage and passenger space.
Inside, you can expect the new Superb to follow the path laid down by the recently revealed new Kodiaq, which keeps physical buttons for functions like the stereo and ventilation system.
Giant infotainment screens are a given, and the space they free up will make way for patches of posh fabric trim pieces. You can expect the Skoda to be loaded with small storage space and to feature Simply Clever features like new door-edge protectors and a polishing cloth for the infotainment screen, as well as stalwarts like an umbrella hidden in the driver's door.
You can expect to hear more about the Skoda Superb as its launch date approaches, and if you’re keen, you can watch the launch on the company’s YouTube channel from 18:00 on 2 November.
