Subaru Sport Mobility is an electrified WRX

As is a prerequisite of most of the cars shown in Tokyo, few hard facts have been revealed on the Subaru Sport Mobility, which leaves us to talk about how it looks. 

Up front, and with a liberal sprinkling of imagination, it's possible to see the 'hawkeye' face of the second facelift of the second generation Impreza – arguably the best looking of all the Imprezas. The dome-like glasshouse gives a flavour of the SVX super Subaru from the 1990s, while there's a touch of GL wagon (the car that forms the basis for Travis Pastrana's Family Huckster Gymkhana car) to the angular fastback rear. There's even a hint of the materials that future Subarus could use in the car's composite-look wheels.

And – as is fast becoming a tradition for any car revealed in Tokyo – that's about all we can say about the new Subaru in terms of batteries, motors, interior infotainment, practicality and many other areas; nothing else has been confirmed. 

However, there is one tiny morsel of information to get excited about, and that's the company's hinting that the driver will be able to control "all four wheels at will", suggesting Subaru could be the first mainstream manufacturer to offer an EV with an electric motor on each wheel, freeing up near-endless possibilities on how the car could perform in corners.
