The 883PS Polestar 6 is already sold out
Polestar has revealed that it plans to turn its O2 2+2 electric roadster concept car into a production flagship, due for release in 2026. Called the Polestar 6, an initial run of 500 LA Concept edition cars has already sold out, though production beyond that is yet to be specified as limited or unlimited.
Yes, it’s proven popular already, which is good news for Polestar, given this and the Polestar 5 four-door coupe are to spearhead the all-electric marque’s new design direction going forward. The specs are compelling too, though all numbers are only targets for now. Power is targeted at a frankly monstrous 883PS (650kW), from two motors, while delivering a 370+ mile range figure.
The performance figures, naturally, should be equally beastly, with a 3.1-second 0-60mph target and a conservative 155mph top speed target. The Polestar 6 will likely use a similar 800-volt electric architecture to that of the Polestar 5. Think of the two loosely, like Polestar’s BMW M8 Gran Coupe and Cabriolet.
The looks are well known, with the production car not expected to deviate greatly from the stunning concept. It’s an elegant, muscular open-top, that uses clever aerospace-inspired aerodynamics to deliver the requisite efficiency and performance while keeping the design clean. The car hides a host of subtle ducts and channels to guide the air through its shape.
The LA Concept edition examples will feature the custom 21-inch alloy wheels and Sky exterior hue seen on the concept as standard, though others will be available. There will be special graphics down the side and animal welfare-traced leather in the cabin. The structure of the Polestar 6 will be labelled aluminium, making it easier to recycle when the time comes. It won’t be cheap, though. Those initial 500 cars are expected to be priced from £171,000, though that could rise between now and the model’s release.
