Audi’s RS6 is an undeniably potent machine. But for ABT, it’s apparently not powerful enough, leading the German tuning company to create the even more extreme ABT RS6-R package.
Taking 125 of the base Audi RS6 models, which are the first to feature optional all-wheel steering, ABT will fit them with a full-fat performance upgrade, with all the carbon trimmings to boot.
To the already-powerful 4.0-litre V8 TFSI engine, the ABT Power R performance upgrade brings an increase of 142PS and 120Nm, taking it to a new peak of 750PS (740bhp) and 920Nm (666lb ft). This is achieved thanks to new turbochargers and a more powerful intercooler, and pushes the car’s top speed all the way to 199mph, while dropping it’s 0-62mph time to 3.2 seconds (versus the standard RS 6 time of 3.6 seconds). Amplifying the engine’s incredible growl is a stainless steel ABT exhaust system, complete with four carbon-fibre endpipes.
Meanwhile, carbon-fibre body parts in the ABT Aerodynamics package – including a frontlip and front grille frame add-on, rear skirt add-on, side skirt attachments and fender inserts – will give the RS6-R a purposeful and aggressive silhouette.
Rolling on weight-optimised 22-inch ABT High Performance HR wheels, the model also boasts a comprehensive suspension programme, which adds ABT coilover springs and sports anti-roll bars to the RS’s already accomplished handling characteristics.
In the cabin, the package adds host of interior upgrades, including a leather and carbon-finished steering wheel and unique numbered door sills.
The package as a whole will cost €68,137.82 (on top of the cost of the car itself) plus installation of €6,336.13. However, individual components will also be available for owners to spec, for those who can’t afford to go the whole hog.
