The Geneva Motor Show as we once knew it is finally set to return after a 48-month absence, with a 14-19th February 2023 date announced for the 91st running of the famous show.

Geneva was one of the first events to fall as the Covid situation rapidly escalated in early 2020, with a near-on fully assembled show cancelled just days before it was due to open. Its future has hung in the balance ever since. The show was mooted to return in 2022, being ‘substantially different’ and an ‘exciting evolution’ compared to what came before. Hesitant exhibitors put paid to that, with the final postponement announcement coming in October 2021.

Indeed, although the pandemic’s grip on the world has abated somewhat, the motor industry has faced its own issues. The ongoing semiconductor shortage has kept new car production low and car markets inflated, with the issue ongoing over the last year.

Since 1949, the show had been a stalwart fixture on the motoring calendar. We hope to see it return to similar form after what will have been four years away.
