Tokyo 2017: The Mitsubishi "Evo" is back... and it's an SUV

25th October 2017

What else is new at Tokyo this year? SUVs inevitably, and one of them really went to town in making an impact. Say hi to the Mitsubishi Evo, 2017 style.

Looking more like a piece of Samurai armour than a car, the e-Evolution is another concept but this time one that is unlikely to appear quite like this any time soon. Instead the all-wheel drive machine’s job is to epitomise the qualities that a new-style Mitsubishi has decreed it now stands for, as summed up by its new slogan, “drive your ambition”.

We know already how much of a heritage Mitsubishi has in the off-road stakes and how pioneering it has been in the electric field, and now to that Mitsu would like us to add “robust and ingenious styling” along with toughness, functionality and plenty of smart technology.

All of which seems pretty much to sum up the new concept. We just hope they manage to inject the new Evo  with the greatest trait from the old Evo: its irresistible driving appeal. From the look of the concept we’d say they might have succeeded.
