The ORA Funky Cat is dead

GWM ORA launched its new naming strategy today, which sees the Funky Cat EV reincarnated as a Tesla Model 3 super fan imaginatively named the ORA 03.

If the name change isn’t enough to nudge you into O3 ownership, ORA will throw in 0 per cent finance with PURE+ models. You pay from £228 a month for a car with a WLTP range of 193 miles, a tad underwhelming when a basic MG4 can burst through 300 miles on a single charge.

The ORA wrestles the narrative back in its favour with a well-stocked kit list that includes wireless phone charging, facial recognition, electric front seats, app integration and voice activation.

Like its caffeine pill namesake, the Pro+ can keep you going longer, travelling 260 miles between charges and costing from £298 per month to buy. Equipment noses into luxury levels covering kit like heated, cooled and massaging front seats, a heated steering wheel, panoramic sunroof, a gesture control boot, privacy glass and auto park.

New paint shades include Moonlight White with a contrasting Starry Black roof.

ORA now has 1,000 cars on UK roads sold through 16 retailers, with plans to launch a sporty 03 GT and a large saloon called the 07, a budget alternative to a Volkswagen ID.7.
