This is the new 2020 Honda Civic Type R and, as you can see, it looks just as mental as before. And more or less identical.
Teased today at the Tokyo Auto Salon, all that Honda has said so far is that the car has a “revised exterior”, but you can bet that the interior will be given the same once over as the updated standard Honda Civic, with some physical buttons around the infotainment screen, for example.
It’s unlikely there will be any additional power and torque, at least until the end of the Civic Type R’s life a few more years down the line, but that’s no bad thing. The Type R’s 2.0-litre, turbocharged four-cylinder engine produces 320PS (315bhp) and 400Nm (295lb ft) of torque, plenty for a front-wheel-drive hatchback car that weighs just 1,380kg.
The Honda NSX has also been given an update with the inclusion of a new paint colour, ‘Indy Yellow Pearl II’, the same colour that was available to buyers of the original NSX and the Honda S2000. However, seeing as the NSX had a facelift and some mechanical tweaks just eight months ago it’s unlikely anything else will change.
