Ah yes, we’ve seen plenty of Audi R8s before. Excuse me? This one is a ridiculously tuned 1,000PS (735kW) drag racing monster? Strap in for this one because it’s about to get lairy…
At first glance this Audi R8 V10 looks to be fairly ordinary, it rolls serenely off its trailer and ticks over calmly enough, nothing much to see here right? Well not entirely, for underneath that glass engine cover sits an engine that has undergone a serious transformation. It’s the same 5.2-litre V10, but it’s been given a onceover by KSF Motorsport, which has fitted a pair of turbochargers, meaning that instead of producing 610PS (449kW) it’s now throwing out 1,001PS (736kW). Judging by how the car behaves when all of that power is deployed suggests nothing much has been done to help put that power to the ground – we get the feeling this video could’ve ended up being an awful lot shorter (see 4:55 and 5:40). When it works though, this thing absolutely disappears.
If a 1,000PS R8 wasn’t enough to pique your interest, there’s also an 850PS (625kW) Mercedes-AMG GT R flying up the runway at various points, too, which itself sounds absolutely incredible. This is what happens when cars get used as toys, and we have to say it’s incredibly entertaining.
