The Tonale is an almost unimaginably important car for Alfa Romeo. Its current line-up might be beloved, especially by us at GRR, but they aren’t volume sellers. This is the company from Turin taking a step into what should be volume selling territory, into a world that could produce profits that would fund an electric expansion and even a new Spider.
But is it any good? The mild-hybrid system is trick – located in the front rather than in the boot to save space and able to run in full EV mode – and we’re promised engaging dynamics. But with 160PS (118kW) in total and a 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine is it exciting enough?
