What do you do when Ferrari calls and says you can have an F8 Spider, but the caveat is it’s the day before SpeedWeek presented by Mastercard and, all things considered, you should really be sitting at your desk writing? The answer, of course, is to pretend the real work doesn’t exist. Which is why at 06:30 the day before SpeedWeek kicked off I found myself sitting in said F8 Spider.
The F8 Spider is the folding hardtop convertible version of the F8 Tributo, what will be perhaps the final non-hybrid mid-engined V8 Ferrari we’ll see. In terms of numbers it is also utterly bonkers.
With a near-identical engine to the hardcore 488 Pista that came before it, the F8 Spider will hit 62mph in 2.9 seconds and go on to a top speed of 211mph. Not a car for anyone precious about their hairstyle…
Sadly the time constraints surrounding SpeedWeek meant we couldn’t do a complete video review as we normally would, but we did what we could to bring you something from our time with the F8. As days out from the office go, this was quite a good one.
