Is it time to re-evaluate the Ferrari F50? The second of Ferrari's 'anniversary specials' has always suffered in comparison to the cars that bracketed it; the F40 and Enzo respectively. Maybe it's because we're so fortunate to work at Goodwood but, honestly, we're a bit bored by F40s now and the Enzo hasn't yet entered its 'aging gracefully' phase.
Watching this compilation of up close and personal clips of F50s at various events in Switzerland might change your mind however. Not only does the F50s naturally aspirated 4.7-litre V12 – derived from the Grand Prix-winning 3.5-litre unit in the Ferrari 641 as raced by Alain Prost and Nigel Mansell – sound incredible on start-up, its 519PS (382kW) allows it to best a Maserati MC12 in a runway drag race. The best bit however is seeing the F50 drift gently around a snow-covered race track, white rooster tail flying wildly behind it.
