What’s your idea of the perfect driver’s car? Because of our nature, of wanting what we can’t have, it’s probably something that doesn’t exist, something that doesn’t have a manual gearbox but would be amazing with one. Alpine A110, Porsche GT4 RS, BMW M3 CSL, Ferrari 458. Wait, that last one is real… and happens to be the subject of today’s video.
We say it's real, just one exists so far, as created by Modificata. It’s a Speciale modified to feature three pedals, a stick and a six-speed gate, removing the seven-speed dual-clutch paddle-shift transmission.
This POV is honestly beautiful, showing the control, the interaction and the involvement we so miss from the paddle-only 458s. Even down to the mistakes, the over-revs on the downshifts – it’s his mistake to make and a thing that needs to be perfected and learned. If we had the money and had any 458, we’d absolutely be on the phone with them, getting it booked in. What a wondrous creation.
