There are muscle cars and then there are MUSCLE cars. There’s stock Mustangs and Camaros, and then there’s the kind of supercharged weapons that embarrass even those top-end machines.
Like this one, called KINGXY, which is a Ford Falcon with 1,200hp from its 5.5-litre big block Ford V8. In case you can’t tell just from looking at the video, a lot of that power comes from the kind of ridiculous supercharger that you expect to normally see in cartoons.
But the modifications have been anything but cartoonish. As the Falcon cruises round Hampton Downs, a circuit in New Zealand, with a bunch of other road cars, its monstrous abilities are clear, as nothing else can hold a candle to its mighty acceleration.
But what really gets us, is the view of driving such a machine. Looking out the front and having to literally crane your neck around that massive supercharger. There are bumps on engine covers to contain what goes underneath, and then there’s engine setups that just have to explode out of the bonnet. And, not to forget, a wonderful, really rather musical, V8 rumble. Nothing harsh, nothing overblown, no pointless pops or bangs, just pure deep muscle grumbling away as it’s force-fed air.
