Video: Peugeot 508 SW PSE Review

10th March 2023
Simon Ostler

The Peugeot 508 SW PSE is an interesting car for many reasons. On the face of it, this is a mildly warm estate car built by a company that hasn’t ever really tried to produce particularly fast cars. It is the most powerful road car Peugeot has ever made, with 355PS (261kW) and 520Nm (384lb ft) of torque, but does it really deserve to be called sporty?

There’s no denying it looks pretty hot, with several fins and strakes around the bodywork giving off a racing car-like appearance. It’s engineered to feel more like a sportscar, too. It’s been lowered and stiffened and there are two electric motors, one on each axel, which give the 508 SW PSE a more balanced and lively feel around corners. But as a plug-in hybrid offering up to 26 miles of range, this large estate car is also pretty heavy.

With all this effort to make the Peugeot 508 SW PSE feel like a more sporty machine, what is the pay off? Can we add this to the list of fast French cars that, in the modern era, currently only includes the Alpine A110? Watch the video to find out.
