Bikes are faster than cars, cars are faster than bikes. It’s a conversation that will go on forever and if you are a biker you think it’s the bike and if you’re a driver you think it’s the car.
But, I think what we could all agree that both are excellent fun, and in the right hands can produce some truly astonishing performance.
In this video (5:14 in), the two worlds collide in perfect harmony. We’re riding onboard a Porsche 911 GT3 RS (because what ‘Ring onboard doesn’t include a 911 at some point?) with someone who could only be described as ‘handy’ behind the wheel.
We pass a couple of bikers early in the film, but at around 3.50 it starts to get good as we catch up with a biker who it seems wants to spend a bit more time with the GT3 RS.
What follows is nearly three minutes of cat and mouse, as the biker flies off into the distance under traction and the car catches fast in the braking zones and corners. It’s brilliant fun, and showcases how drivers and bikers can just get along.
