The Porsche Taycan is a car that is in the process of revolutionising the motoring world. It turns out you can build a car that still feels like a Porsche, but is entirely electric. But, how could you make it even better? For us at GRR, the answer is always “make it an estate”.
And that appears to be exactly what Porsche are doing. In the same way as they radically improved the Panamera by making the “Sport Turismo” estate (shooting brake, whatever you want to call it), so the Taycan is getting bigger. Spotted testing at, where else, the Nürburgring, the Taycan estate is doing a very bad job of hiding itself as a Panamera, so we can pretty much see this is what it will look like.
Up front it is, well, a Taycan, nothing changed there, but at the rear they have added a Panamera ST-style high boot, and a very angular rear three-quarter window, which to be honest we’re not massive fans of. But small details like rear windows be damned, this might well be the first production electric estate the world has ever seen, and for that we are truly, truly thankful.
