There are plenty of places you can go to find some of the world’s very best cars, but we’re tending to consider that this, the Petersen Museum in Los Angeles, California, might be the home of the single most impressive, interesting and beautiful collection of cars on the planet.
We stopped by for an exclusive visit while we were out in the States, and we’re delighted that we did because the sheer number of rare cars is enough to knock you out cold for several hours. It’s one of those places where, no matter which direction you look, it’s likely to draw yet another gasp of air from your lungs.
It’s absolutely stacked with cars you won’t see anywhere else, and we’ve picked out some of our favourites here, the likes of a unique coach-built Rolls-Royce Phantom 1 Aerodynamic Coupe, a sumptuous Bugatti Type 57C Cabriolet and the final Ferrari road car to be designed by Touring Superleggera – the only one of its kind, previously owned by Henry Ford II.
The collection’s not just limited to priceless unicorns you’re scared to look at in case your gaze causes immeasurable damage, though. Amongst the heritage automobilia are plenty of other attractions, including a Jaguar XKR used as a prop in the James Bond film Die Another Day and the Batmobile that starred in a pair of Batman films from the late 1980s and early ‘90s.
We could have spent days exploring this place, and we recommend that if you haven’t ever visited, you ought to add it to your bucket list.
