Overlanders are usually huge, self-sufficient behemoths, with the capabilities to cross-continents, and the capacity to carry months’ worth of supplies. But occasionally, someone breaks the mould, taking an otherwise entirely unpractical car and turning it into an adventure-ready expedition machine.
And one of the most unusual overlanders we’ve ever seen is this Porsche 924 Rallye build, which is not only designed to take on the furthest corners of the globe, but has done so too.
Created by a German who goes by the name of ‘Only a Roadtrip Away’, the incredible overland Porsche features all of the usual rally components – beefy tyres, heightened suspension, spotlights and an awesome set of eighties rally decals. Combined with plenty of adventure additions, including a fully loaded roofrack and a cosy bed in the back, it’s possibly the coolest Porsche we’ve ever seen.
So far, the ‘Camping Porsche’, as it is known, has travelled to the depths of the artic, through Nordkapp and Russia. Its inline four has slept in -22 degrees celcius, and lived to tell the tale.
