Lego has gone to Maranello with its latest Technic kit, pulling down the Ferrari Daytona SP3 to 1:18 scale and 3,778 pieces. Yes, the limited-run special project supercar can be bought, built and enjoyed by Lego and car enthusiasts alike.
Like previous Technic kits, the SP3 is deliciously detailed, with the retro-futuristic look of the real Daytona spectacularly reinterpreted in brick form. There are also a number of mechanical details, including a functioning transmission and 6.5-litre V12 engine – okay, it’s not actually 6.5 litres in this case. There’s wishbone suspension with working springs and stunning doors that open in the true butterfly action.
While £399 is expensive, it’s a comparative bargain compared to the real deal, which is comfortably over £2,000,000 for the lucky 599 people that will get a hold of one. Lego will also be producing a book documenting the kit’s creation, limited to just 5,000 copies. Is this the coolest Lego Technic kit yet, or do you prefer the incredible Chiron of a couple of years ago? If you want one, the kit goes on sale on 1st June.
