The Goodwood Health Summit, presented by Randox Health took place on Thursday 19 September 2024 with a world-leading panel of experts to debate topics and trends around the gut microbiome, infant feeding and the first five years.

Mr James Kinross, gastroenterologist at Imperial College London and author of Dark Matter, explains the gut's role and how a healthy mind and body depend on a healthy microbiome. James will outline his focus on protecting the maternal microbiome and how it evolves and therefore influences the future health of infants.
Dr Vicky Sibson is a Public Health Nutritionist and Director of First Steps Nutrition, Vicky will outline the importance of good nutrition from pre-conception to age five and the work she is undertaking around influencing policies and the resources they provide for health workers.
11:30 - 1pm Dr Chris Van Tullekan and Professor Louise Kenney
Dr Chris van Tulleken and Professor Louise Kenny discuss the challenges that new parents face in understanding pregnancy and birth decisions and the question of UPFs in baby food.
Professor Kenny will discuss her work in the field of foetal programming, intergenerational health challenges and infant microbiome and outline the new birth cohort that she leads; C-GULL a ground breaking study in Liverpool.
Following on from Louise’s conversation Chris will discuss how industry has created an environment that dictates our nutritional and lifestyle choices and how we tackle the right issues and educate at all levels.

Professor Pekka Puska from Finland explained his pioneering, decades-long dietary health strategy and how it solved a Finnish public health crisis. Panel experts debated the need for real-world solutions and discussed how to formulate key achievable goals.
