The S.F. Edge Trophy is the race where if your car is a century old, it’s probably not old enough to compete. It’s also the race that sees cars from all corners of motorsport of their era, meet to do battle in the same arena and one many were not originally designed to battle in.
We have land speed cars battling Indy 500 winners, battling legends of the Targa Florio road race, among others. It’s a compelling mix that makes for a proper spectacle, as chains waggle and exhausts splutter.
In this race we get a great view of these warriors of a bygone era battle it out, with camera angles showing the exposed engines of cars like the Darracq frantically fizzing ahead of the driver.
The race was great too, with Julian Majzub taking maximum advantage of his pole position start in the Sunbeam Indianapolis. He knew there was a threat coming from the rear in the form of Mark Walker in the Darracq and all he could do was drive as hard and fast as possible. As his luck would have it, Walker would find issues with back markers stunting his progress.
