Whether you missed the first day of the 81st Members’ Meeting presented by Audrain Motorsport or simply want to relive the best moments, you’ve come to the right corner of the internet. We’ve condensed the entire day’s action into 20 minutes of highlights for a bite-sized portion of the atmosphere and action on track.
The day kicked off with practice sessions and qualifying for a broad range of machinery. Cars as disparate as the aero-engined Edwardian monsters of the S.F. Edge Trophy are in stark contrast to the tiny 1.0-litre Formula 3 screamers of the Derek Bell Cup. The saloon cars in the Gordon Spice Trophy bring a complete range of forms again. What do they have in common? Close racing from flag to flag.
We’ve also captured the day’s demonstrations. The sensational GMA T.50S made its presence felt with its high-revving V12 engine, while the Can-Am cars – including six wild Shadows – made their own V8 thunder. Still prefer a highly-strung 12-pot? Gerhard Berger took to the track in the 1989 Ferrari 640 grand prix car. It made sparks fly.
Day one of 81MM also brought the first races of the weekend. Emanuele Pirro made his two-wheeled debut in the Mike Hailwood Trophy, those S.F. Edge cars were in competition and the day was rounded off by the Gordon Spice Trophy, where everything from a Mini 127GT to several Chevrolet Camaros battled it out.
Sit back and enjoy the very best moments from the first half of the 81MM weekend.
