There was absolutely no shortage of dramatic moments on track during the second day of the 81st Members’ Meeting presented by Audrain Motorsport. Our compilation of best moments kicks off with a three-way battle in the Ken Miles Cup, the race for notchback Ford Mustangs that celebrated the 60th anniversary of the all-American Blue Oval sports car. Watch as Andy Priaulx, Alex Buncombe and Craig Davies battle it out door to door in evenly matched machines driven right on the edge. It’s spectacular stuff and the true essence of racing.
More super-close racing is served up in the Derek Bell Cup for 1.0-litre Formula 3 cars. These tiny 10,000rpm single-seaters couldn’t be more different to the V8 pony cars we’ve just discussed, yet the racing is equally razor-edged. Peter De La Roche (Alexis Mk17), Andrew Hibberd (Brabham BT18) and Michael O’Brien (Titan Mk3) circulate in unison, each looking for the slightest mistake from their adversaries.
Elsewhere, we watch as the sidecar team of Todd Ellis and Emmanuelle Clément perform their shootout-winning lap. It was a first for Goodwood to have sidecars competing, and watching these teams do their thing opened our eyes to what amounts to a motorsport artform. Other highlights include Jackie Oliver aboard a Shadow Can-Am car, complete with onboard footage, the screaming V12 of the GMA T.33 mule, the battle between the matching Yamaha TZ350G motorcycles of Phil Atkinson and Glen English in the Mike Hailwood Trophy and so much more.
Sit back and enjoy this video, which also includes the Niki Lauda celebration, Alex Brundle elbowing his way around the circuit in a Ford GT40 and a close battle in the Parnell Cup. We can’t wait to do it all again next year.
